Abstract

The pandemic of the new coronavirus highlighted the strong (racial and social) inequalities in Brazil. In view of this context, I try to address in this essay the effects of the pandemic against the black population, which, like other social minorities, had their vulnerabilities hit hard, making their social relations even more difficult, and also the development of economic activities essential for survival. themselves and their families. In this sense, I present data that show the reality of the black population and the extent of their weaknesses at this moment in covid-19. Another point I address is the manifestation of racist acts arising from the use of the mask by black people, one of the essential protection items in the containment of the virus. Finally, what is learned is that the struggles have intensified. Fight for life against racism and against a virus with greater lethality to the black population.
