Information Science interfaces with the Knowledge Management process:
analysis based on implementation

The term Knowledge Management refers to the search for mechanisms to externalize individuals' implicit cognitive knowledge, being considered a complex process since the subjects are different and explain what they know in different ways. Thus, considering the complex challenges of Knowledge Management, and the interdisciplinary nature of Information Science, the objective of this study was to present the relationships between Information Science and Knowledge Management processes, based on the analysis of implementation models. The methodology used was bibliographical research, of a narrative type, of an exploratory nature, to investigate the main strategic concepts in this study, namely, Information Science, interdisciplinarity, Knowledge Management and knowledge management implementation models. In this research, it was identified that, over the years, several Knowledge Management models were built from which four models were selected and chosen for analysis: that of Davenport and Prusak (1998), Choo (1998), Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) and Corrêa (2022). In the results, from the narrative bibliographic research, it was possible to describe, analyze and highlight the flow of information in Knowledge Management implementation models. As final considerations, Information Science offers a theoretical and methodological basis for structuring Knowledge Management processes.
