Abstract
It discusses the selection process of African and Afro-Brazilian children's and young adult literature, from a perspective of the publishing market and bookstores specialized in the subject, aiming to support the work of librarians and teachers, particularly those who work in school libraries. It presents the concepts of structural racism, school library, racial literacy, and Afro-Brazilian literature, emphasizes the importance of applying Law Nº 10.639/2003 after 20 years, and the demand for publishing and disseminating children's and young adult books on the topic. The research also includes a brief presentation of publishers and bookstores specializing in the topic, highlighting Lekti-sebo and a bookstore in São Luís/MA. It is observed that Afro-Brazilian children’s and young adult literature is increasingly being produced and disseminated in different spaces and acts as an agent of racial literacy and decolonization of the school curriculum, as it expands knowledge about the country’s cultural and racial.
