Educação bibliotecária antirracista?
um estudo do curso de biblioteconomia da Universidade Federal de Rondônia
Abstract
How does the curriculum of the Librarianship program at Universidad Federal de Rondônia reflect its commitment to antiracist education? This is the question that guides this investigation, whose objective is to examine the curriculum Librarianship program in order to identify whether there are curricular components that address and encourage antiracist librarian education. Regarding methodological procedures, this is basic research, with a bibliographic and documentary nature. From the analysis of the 57 courses, we identified the absence of a specific course on the topic, with only two of them including content on human rights, gender and ethnic-racial relations, and Afro-Brazilian, African, and Indigenous history and culture. Despite this gap, there are specific approaches by faculty members and the inclusion of bibliographies considered antiracist in the curriculum, especially in the course “Foundations of Librarianship and Information Science”. It is understood that the implementation of antiracist education in the program depends on faculty commitment to the antiracist agenda for its rollout.
