Virtual Reality (VR) systems have been used in science as tools for teaching and learning, technical training and entertainment. In the field of neurofunctional rehabilitation, VR offers a real opportunity to complement and stimulate conventional therapy in people who live with physical and cognitive limitations. Belonging to BRAINN (an RIDC FAPESP), BioxLab consists of a laboratory for the design, testing and improvement of Health Informatics solutions for applications in motor and neurofunctional recovery. These applications are controlled from the movements captured by a gesture recognition device (of their own development) that consists of sonar (ultrasound) and Arduino or by Microsoft Kinect (commercial device) that digitizes the user's body and creates spatial coordinates of their joints, allowing gestural interaction.
