Abstract

Even in situations where abortion is allowed in Brazil - rape, risk to the mother's life and anencephalic fetus, this right is not always guaranteed by the State and faces barriers in public opinion. Using Nancy Fraser's three-dimensional theory of justice as a theoretical framework, we seek, in this article, to understand how the negotiation of justice parameters occurs in the arguments against and in favor of legal abortion, with a view to providing subsidies for the construction of an intersectional model of social justice that promote parity of women's participation. The article analyzes 3,714 comments on six YouTube videos about two cases of legal abortion in Brazil. The data point to a debate based on misinformation and revictimization, and on the treatment of cases from an individualized perspective that prevents the macro view of abortion as a public health issue.
