Abstract

This text discusses the adoption of the perspectives of mediatization and of media ecology as possible bases to the investigation of communication processes and practices in the contemporary media ecosystem. Understanding the two perspectives as complementary ones, it defends the development of research paths characterized by an ecological and contextual approach in order to comprehend the complexities of the current scenario of deep mediatization (COULDRY e HEPP, 2017), characterized by the increasing interdependence among media, institutions, organizations and individuals in a variety of media environments.
