ANNUARIO AND ALMANACH OF CAMPINA GRANDE

Abstract

Consequence of sources tabulation for a search about the beginning and development of public school in the city of Campina Grande – Paraíba, this paper focus the Annuario de Campina Grande published in 1926 and the Almanach de Campina Grande published in 1933, to discuss the formational and educational work evolves for these publications. Based in the formulations of Gramsci, these press vehicles are considered as unitary organizations of culture, once that the peridiocals tried to conform an usual opinion, building consensus about conceptions that was interesting for some society sectors. Articulating the lecture of the documents to their contextualization, in the scenery of the press of Paraíba and the conjuncture of Campina Grande in the moments of their production, it was chosen, as expressions of education and formational dimension, a moralist conception of education, a personal culture and a native vainglory, indirect or direct disseminates for the both opus. The lecture of Annuario and Almanach allows to identify a vainglory aspect, added to laudative speech of Campina Grande, present, inclusively, in the news presumed informative. In respect to personalism, related to exaltation of personal status, the both peridiocals dedicates a massive number of pages to homage notable personalities, propagating a culture of the individual merit, that arises the pathiarchal feeling, as indicates the studies of Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda. Relatively to the propagation of a moralist education, the paper also allows to identify, in Annuario and Almanach, clear recommendations about the social accepted behaviors, mainly in which refers to the female modesty and shyness. At last, the paper shows the importance of the press system analysis, as fountains for the Education History studies and, specifically, indicates the necessity to continue the studies, be it to make a profund study of these documents, be it to search deeply results, by the analysis of anothers yearbooks and almanacs.
