Abstract

This article examines how librarians perform their profisseonal activities in the cities of João Pessoa (Paraiba State) and Recife (Pernambuco State). The research upon which is based took into consideration the opinion of employers, activities carried out by librarians and areas which need strengthening in the academic curricula of the Library Science Course at the Federal Universities of Paraíba-UFPB and Pernambuco-UFPE. The results obtained could help to identify additional job oportunities as well as to improve the formation of librarians as professionals in information.
