Abstract

It deals with the school library through a multidisciplinary perspective which includes the Information Science, french Discourse Analysis and Education. It aims to understand in which ways is constructed the imaginary on this institution, in the Information Science, and to reflect on how this symbolic is influenced by the social, historical and ideological conditions of production of the discourses and by memory. To develop these questions, first of all, it accomplishes a brief revision of literature about French Discourse Analysis; then it analyzes the discourses about the school library contained in nineteen scientific documents (articles and works presented at scientific events), the different senses on this information institution, its objectives and its ways of constitution in the social imaginary.
