Abstract

The energy transition is taking on the importance of a zeitgeist on a planet that is rampantly polluting its waters, land, and air. Projections for the energy matrix must increasingly expand the participation of renewable energy sources, coupled with improvements in reducing the environmental and social impacts of their production. This article focuses on social impacts, specifically considered under a new model aimed at maximizing the benefits of energy production. This mission implies a re-evaluation of the current model in Brazil, aiming to propose new legal and regulatory frameworks that can enable new modalities for the energy production process, in order to enhance an energy transition that energizes economic sectors and regions of the country. The methodology adopted starts from an evaluation of the Brazilian experience vis-à-vis its critical comparison with international experiences of energy production expansion, especially in China, aiming to delineate three conceptual areas that broaden the socioeconomic benefits of the energy transition, thus achieving greater social legitimacy.
