Abstract

Ecofeminism emerges as a theoretical and political current that establishes connections between the domination of nature and the historically imposed oppression of women, proposing a radical critique of the patriarchal and anthropocentric civilizational model. This article aims to appreciate the main theoretical foundations of ecofeminism, from its origin, mainly through the work of Françoise d’Eaubonne (1974), to its contemporary ramifications, including the contributions of Vandana Shiva, Maria Mies, Val Plumwood, Karen Warren, Susan Griffin, Carolyn Merchant, Silvia Federici, and Nancy Fraser. The methodology adopted is bibliographic and analytical-critical, with a review of national and international literature. The results indicate that ecofeminism offers an intersectional perspective necessary for understanding the global ecological crisis, articulating gender, class, race, and nature in a common emancipatory project. It concludes that, given the urgency of climate change and the deepening of social inequalities, ecofeminism presents itself as a theoretical and practical tool of great relevance to the construction of alternatives to the current hegemonic development model.
