Firstly, we will consider how the apatheia is articulated within Foucault’s researches about Christian pastorship and governmentality. Secondly, we will present a critique to the concept of apatheia adopted by Foucault. In our understanding, the rupture between the Christian and the ancient apatheia claimed by Foucault lacks basis. Such break is the way through which Foucault relates the concept at issue to the pastoral power.Downloads
