This article discusses the work of contemporary artist Paulo Nazareth, discussing his conception of art of conduct and analyzing some of his works, in particular those constructed through photographs, pamphlets, performances, installations during his walks around the world. In addition, it seeks to present some aspects of his trajectory, focusing on his training as an artist and his connection with the community in which he was born, Palmital, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Belo Horizonte. From the methodological point of view, in addition to interviews with the artist and articles about his work, the research of Dr. Naiara Paula Eugenio is used to establish some points of contact between his production and the Yorubá aesthetic, whose principle is the ethical-aesthetic formation of an individual within a social body. With this, it seeks to show the importance that the artist gives to his ancestry connecting contemporary language with resonances of one of the oldest cultures in Africa.
