Abstract

The subject to be discussed in this article is related to the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard, considered the founder of Christian existentialism, who lived in the contemporary period. He defended subjectivity as fundamental to the human experience. The main objective of this article is to answer the following question: what components structure the relationship between man and God in Kierkegaard's work Fear and Trembling? The methodological procedures adopted were guided by the reading, analysis and interpretation of the aforementioned work and texts by its scholars. The article is divided into three topics. In the first, it is about understanding the concept of anguish as a fundamental condition that permeates all human existence. In the second, the main characteristics of man in the aesthetic and ethical stages of life are presented. And finally, in the third topic, we will discuss the Individual and his relationship with God, in the religious stage, based on the figure of Abraham. It is believed that the relevance of the topic studied in the article lies in providing the reader with a reflection on the relationship between man and God, highlighting that faith and personal commitment are essential to dealing with life's uncertainties.
