Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Authors must follow the following guidelines to submission:

1) Indicating the manuscript contribution section:

editorial (reserved to editor-in-chief)

research and technical article (5000 a 8000 words)

position paper or essay (up to 6000 words)

case study (up to 4000 words)

interviews (up to 1500 words)

 

2) Structure: TPA accepts sorts of structures of a manuscript since the structure follows the range of common possibilities used in Administration and Social Sciences. However, an abstract up to 200 words and five keywords are necessary on the title’s page. TPA’s staff will translate the abstract and the keywords to Portuguese in the case of acceptance of the manuscript and create a Portuguese version of these topics. Manuscripts have to mention clearly in the analyses or conclusions what are its implications to theory and practice. It is an essential point in TPA articles.

3) Manuscripts must use APA (American Psychological Association 6th edition) style for submission. We draw attention to these other observations:

• Submission by TPA’s website. • Archive without any author(s) identification.

• Archive in MS-Word format without any password.

• Font: Cambria.

• Title: capital letters only in the first words and names. It must be in the middle, bold, and font size 12cm.

• Headings and sub-headings with a capital letter in the first letter of each word, bold, font size 12cm on the left.

• Main text font size 12cm and references size 10cm.

• Tables and Figures font size 10cm, including the title. The title has to be on the top and centered. Sources have to be after the table/figure on the left.

• TPA do not use endnotes.

• Numbering pages are not necessary

• Paper A4 format.

• Margins: superior: 3 cm; others 2,0 cm.

• References have to follow APA style.

4) TPA – Theory and Practice in Administration follows the editorial principles of the documents “Good Practices in Scientific Publication” and “Code of Ethics”, both initiatives of ANPAD (National Association of Postgraduation and Research in Administration) that aim to help Brazilian journals to achieve high performance and to expand their impact as a reference research source in the areas of Administration and Accounting. Before submission, the authors should read these documents and agree to follow Anpad's ethics principles.
