This paper aims to present the main ideas of Foucault presented in his course taught in 1979 at the Collège de France, entitled The birth of biopolitics. In second place, two antagonistic analyzes of two renowned intellectuals will be examined, namely, The last lesson of Foucault by Geoffroy de Lagasnerie and Y at-il one sujet biopolitique by Frédéric Gros. From here, it will be necessary to understand a number of concepts, such as Foucault's rejection of the universals, the genealogy of schemes of veridiction, the logic of strategy and the diagnosis of politics, so that we can understand how, from a single work, it is possible to elaborate two very different analyzes, with such incompatible conclusions. Finally, we seek to elucidate how an understanding of the work from a broader reading, makes it possible to solve the main conflicts brought by the authors. However, we will show that Gros's analysis is more consistent with Foucault's thinking.
