Abstract

In this article, we present the first results about our research project “As crônicas do século XVI: o homem entre o Medievo e o Novo Mundo”, in which we work with a Portuguese and a Castilian documentation, both composed from the experience of the medieval European habitants in the American territory. In this sense, our propose is based in the necessity of study the contact of the medieval European habitants with the American continent through of the study of the chronicles of the sixteenth century. Our aim is to understand not only the interaction between the men with the territory and the time related to this historical period, but also observe this historical context from a perspective of a European perspective.
