THE IMPEACHMENT OF DILMA ROUSSEFF AND THE DISCOURSE ON SOCIAL APPEASEMENT IN THE BRAZILIAN PRESS

The propose in this work is analyze, from the perspective of the mimetic theory of René Girard, as presented by Kirwan (2015) and Golsan (2014), statements that manifest one of the speeches that have operated justifications for the process of impediment of the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff: the appeasement of society. From the perspective of the interdiscursivity analysis of Maingueneau (2008) and the political discourse of Charaudeau (2016), we perceive that a discourse of social appeasement, including journalistic statements, typical of the "scapegoat" mechanism, was carried out within an anti - three speeches that we have analyzed here: the inauguration speech of interim President Michel Temer on May 12, 2016, the speech of the judge responsible for Operation Lava Jato Sergio Moro on May 11, 2016 and the cover of the weekly magazine IstoÉ (number 2424, de May 25, 2016).Downloads
