Abstract

This article examines the thematization of the podcast Amazônia Indígena, produced by the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB) and available on Spotify between April and June 2023, during the Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL). The study employs the first category of the Audio-Structural Analysis of the Podcast (Silva, 2022) to identify how the podcast addresses central themes such as indigenous rights, territory, education, and energy issues. The analysis reveals that the podcast serves as a crucial tool for indigenous mobilization, providing an effective platform to discuss and promote the visibility of relevant issues for Amazonian communities. The research underscores the importance of audio formats in expanding the reach and impact of indigenous voices.

Gessiela Nascimento da Silva, Federal University of Santa Catarina

Doutoranda do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Jornalismo da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (PPGJor/UFSC). Mestre em Comunicação (PPGCom UFMA Imperatriz). Integra os Grupos de Pesquisa Jornalismo, Mídia e Memória (Joimp/UFMA), Rádio e Política no Maranhão (RPM/UFMA) e Investigação em Rádio, Fonografia e Áudio (Girafa/UFSC/CNPq).

Ariel Rocha, Federal University of Maranhão

Master in Communication from the Postgraduate Program in Communication (PPGCOM) at the Federal University of Maranhão - Imperatriz. Holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication - Journalism from the Federal University of Maranhão - Imperatriz. Member of the Research Group on Communication and Cyberculture (GCiber/UFMA), where she conducts research on journalistic sources, journalistic headlines, and transformations in production routines driven by digital technologies. She was a permanent scholarship holder from 2016 to 2018 in the Research Group on Convergence and Audiovisual Narratives (Connau/UFMA) and participated in the Journalism Dynamics Research Group (UFMA) in 2016 and the Communication, Politics, and Society (COPS/UFMA) research group from 2017 to 2019. She was also a volunteer researcher in the Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC).

Quezia Alencar, Federal University of Maranhão

Master in Communication from the Postgraduate Program in Communication at the Federal University of Maranhão, Imperatriz (PPGCOM/UFMA). Scholarship recipient at the Foundation for Research and Scientific and Technological Development of Maranhão (FAPEMA) from 2020 to 2022. Graduated in Social Communication - Journalism from UFMA in 2019. My research focuses on the following topics: narratives, narrative journalism, the Amazon region, humanized journalism, reporting, and journalistic sources. I have professional experience in communication with an emphasis on journalism, journalistic coverage, press relations, political and institutional communication, audiovisual production, content marketing, and social media.
