ANÁLISE DA OBRA OITOCENTISTA ÚRSULA SOB A PERSPECTIVA DAS CATEGORIAS GÊNERO E RAÇA
Abstract
This article aims to analyze, from the perspective of the categories of gender and race analysis, the novel Úrsula, the first Brazilian work written by a black woman and which has an abolitionist character, in order to show the social roles and realities experienced by women and by blacks in the 19th century. For this, we base our study on Emília Viotti da Costa (1999), Mary Del Priore and Renato Venancio (2016) and Valentim Facioli (2001), as references for understanding the historical period and the literary style to which Maria's work Firmina dos Reis is integrated.
Keywords: Brazilian Literature. Ethnic-racial studies. Gender Studies. Ursula.
