The institutionalization of Information Science in Brazil: disciplinary elements of the scientific field

Abstract

The history of information science in Brazil has a large extent, the resulting characteristics of the transformation process that has affected the scientific and technical development from the 1960s. Based on this understanding, reflected on the elements that make up the processes of implementation and institutionalization of the scientific field, specifically the context of post-graduate studies and research, associations, events and technical and scientific publications. It is considered that these elements identify part of the process of institutionalization of the field, as it requires an understanding of other ideas that achieve the theoretical and methodological aspects, in an integrative process.
