Environmental conditions induce morphological variations in Blechnum serrulatum, affecting the size of the plants and the consistency, arrangement and size of the leaves in the fronds. Specimens growing in the two areas of denser vegetation, namely Córrego do Zabé and Cabeça do Boi sites, showed larger size (90-135 cm in the former area and 60-160 cm in the latter), and their leaves were more horizontally arranged on the rachis. Conversely, specimens growing in the "cerrado" area (Maripitanga site) presented smaller size (60-110 cm), and their leaves were more vertically arranged on the rachis. The number and the consistency of leaves also presented variation on the specimens analyzed: 23-40 membranaceous leaves per frond in Cabeça do Boi site, 35-52 slightly coriaceous leaves per frond in Córrego do Zabé site, and 40-76 coriaceous leaves per frond in Maripitanga site.
