Since Freud, psychoanalysis has maintained an intimate relationship with literature, not only as an object of analysis but also as a precursor and legitimizing instance of this scientific field. In this sense, the present article seeks to investigate and understand some existing affinities between literary and psychoanalytic language, with a focus on the homoerotic aspect, and for this purpose, it conducts an analysis of the novel My Brilliant Friend (2011) by contemporary writer Elena Ferrante. It is a literature review of fundamental works and authors in psychoanalysis such as Freud and Lacan, through qualitative research and documentary analysis. As a corollary, Ferrante's work allows for a dialogue with psychoanalytic theories and demonstrates profound agreements with literature regarding themes such as the human condition, desire, love, anguish, and sexuality.
