This article reviews the debate on intersectionality and its effects on curriculum research with an emphasis on the politics of bodies in the early childhood schools. Although the intersectional theories are officially described as born in the late 1980s, their emergence can be traced back to the institutionalization of women's studies in the 1970s and the feminist movement of the 1960s. Black feminisms have long championed the strength of the category as the backbone of feminist thought. However, in recent years intersectionality has faced criticism, from black feminist philosophy to applied policy research. This article will use two heterogeneous stories of racialized children's bodies and their funk dance and singing performances in the schools to produce a reimagining of the relationship between curriculum and difference. This investigation activates Denise Ferreira da Silva's fractal thinking to supplement intersectionality with onto-epistemological considerations about interference patterns, that is, in which body and world are always entangled.
