This article asks about what is happening with what the university offers, what is displayed as a proposal in prison spaces. Can we identify changes in those who travel through the proposals of the University? We hope to be able to give an account of the scope of the educational and artistic practices of the University in jail, recovering the value of education as a transmission and recreation of accumulated knowledge but especially as a possibility of modification of others and the ethical commitment that this implies. This entails stopping to look for measurable results exclusively as a policy for evaluating the results of the University to ask us about the opportunities to influence the public education of those who transit the spaces offered by the academy in contexts of deprivation of ambulatory freedom. That is why we choose to name this idea as a trace since it is a “trace, trace or trace of one thing or person” left in another. It seeks to be able to account for some of these traces from the voice of those who participate in this meeting; educators and persons deprived of liberty.
