Popular Extension, Education, Inclusion and SustainabilityAbstract
This article focuses on university extension and aims to recognize extension actions developed at the Federal University of Cariri, Ceará, which have characteristics of popular extension. To this end, we conducted a documentary research, using as a source the catalog of extension actions of this Higher Education Institution, of the actions developed in 2019 and in the area of Education. We base our discussion on the theoretical perspective of Freire (1985, 2000, 2013), Melo Neto (1994, 2001, 2002, 2004), Arroyo (2012), Charlot (2013), Santos (2020), among others. We are also based on legislation, specifically the Federal Constitution of 1988, the National Education Plan and the National Education Guidelines and Bases Law n.º 9.394/96. In addition to documentary analysis, we conducted a survey using a questionnaire, via Google Forms. Regarding the programs and projects developed at UFCA, in Education, in 2019, we realize that all themes produce knowledge and contribute in a certain way to that target audience. The results show us that many of the actions of extension of this HEI refer to the characteristics of Popular Extension and to the major principles of the University which are inclusion and sustainability, however, the University still needs to follow a long path, develop listening to the other, build together with the community to contribute more effectively to the solution of concrete problems of the subjects who live in these contexts.
