Assessment of environmental opportunities that are offered at home for baby engine development

The aim of this study was to assess the environmental opportunities for infants' motor development offered at home. Twenty-one babies aged 0 to 24 months and their caregivers participated in this research, and the instrument used was Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development (AHEMD). The results showed that the categories "External Space", "Materials for Fine Motricity" and "Materials for Gross Motricity" had the worst scores in the study. It was possible to conclude the need for other spaces such as, for example, the school environment, public leisure areas, among others, in order to supply the stimuli that are not available in the home environment.
