This qualitative documentary research is based on the following question: Are there evidences of praxis whose curriculum is integrated into local experiences, knowledge, directed towards an emancipatory and Freirean education? Therefore, the objective was to understand if there are elements of Freirean praxis, of an emancipatory education, that is, if this educational process proposes pedagogical actions with a curriculum intertwined with local experiences, knowledge, and culture. The study focused on documents that systematize Contextualized Education for Coexistence with the Semiarid (ECCSA) in Tamboril, Ceará. The content analysis technique was used for this purpose. Through the confrontation with the literature, the category emerged: paradoxes between interests, the liberating praxis consolidates itself. The results revealed paradoxes of interests in the process. On one side, the technical, evidenced by the Department of Education, on the other, popular collectives embodying a collaborative education, based on local, dialogical, and therefore, emancipatory and Freirean curriculum.
