ABSTRACT

This article aims to contribute to a better understanding of Roman history, language and literature and, in a panoramic way, situate Latin and Latin literature in each period of Ancient Rome (Monarchy, Republic and Empire). This research is characterized as being of an explanatory character, as well as proposing a bibliographic review concerning the History of Ancient Rome, the Latin language and literature. With regard to theoretical contributions, it follows three theoretical lines: the History of ancient Rome - Grimal (2011), Brandão e Oliveira (2015) etc; that of Latin literature - Cardoso (2014) and Amarante (2018) and, later, that of the Latin language - Grimal, Lamaison and Noiville (1986) and Basseto (2005). This proposal, therefore, can offer those interested in the subject a systematization regarding the time-space of Latin and Latin literature in the historical course of Rome, offering them clarity on the vivacity of Latin.
