Abstract

This papers examines Jean Laplanche’s psychoanalytic theory and describes it as a work of “reconstruction” in this discipline. It underlines Laplanche’s opposition to deconstruction and postmodern trends in psychoanalysis and emphasizes the elements of his
theory that situates him as a “reconstructionist” author: claim in favor the scientific character of metapsychology, quest for truth in theoretical developments, epistemology inspired by rationalism and humanism, which affirms the historical process leading to the formation of psychic agencies, oppositions to mythical account of the content of the unconscious as well as to the subjectivism of relational schools, refusal of solipsism, emphasis on meaning and interpretation in the formation of the human soul, and anthropology of transformation.
