Abstract

The debate concerning who speaks and from which position one speaks has been increasingly pervasive and influential in the organization of discourses, of representation and of political persuasion. The practices oriented by representative speech dialogue with multiple other associated practices concerning identity, political meaning, public space and the efforts to listen. At the same time, it gives rise to several political affections and has been greatly relevant in the struggle of Black Women for greater visibility and greater respect, as shown by the work of Djamila Ribeiro. Further, the demands associated with the position of speech provoke a number of discourses and arguments that deserve themselves to be considered in their convergence and dissonance. This text intends to bring some of these elements to the fore and put them in friction. It gathers speeches from different places and reports how I listen to these real and imaginary characters. It is thus possible, in this way, to start thinking about the relationship between the question concerning who speaks with issues such as the representation of a discourse, the impact and selectivity of listening, the infiltration of others, the right to dissent and the right to difference, the colonial male white supremacy, the articulation of political landscapes, the nature of universality and the selective attention to perspectives.
