Abstract

This article establishes a comparative dialogue between Macunaíma, by Mário de Andrade, and its English version, a translation by E.A. Goodland. Topics involving the translating process and the (un)necessary adaptations are discussed from the point of view of the process of internationalization of literary production and the alterations, on a cultural basis, to which both translator and text are exposed to.
