This is the translation of Plutarch's Τὰ παλαιά τῶν Λακεδαιμονίων ἑπιτηδεύματα or Ancient Habits of Lacedaimonians. It is a treaty composed of 42 anecdotes, sayings and episodes that portray the archaic Spartan period, when the city of Sparta was governed by the laws of Lycurgus.
