Social network of co-authoring in Information Science: study on the thematic area "Knowledge Organization and Representation"

Analyzes the dynamics of co-authoring social networks in the field of Information Science in Brazil. The working group (WG2) "Knowledge Organization and Representation", of the National Research Meeting of Information Science (ENANCIB) was characterized in terms of its production, institutional affiliation, geographic region, the most productive actors and co-authoring networks. The data revealed that 294 papers, produced by 297 actors, and affiliated to 60 institutions, were presented in the period from 1994 to 2011. Of this set, 25 were considered the most productive actors, who were responsible for the most significant production of papers. The institutions represented by the most productive actors are concentrated in the Southeast Region of Brazil, especially in the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), State University of São Paulo (UNESP), University of São Paulo (USP) and the Brazilian Institute of Information Science and Technology (IBICT).
