ANALYSIS OF THE EVOLUTION OF PRENATAL INDICATORS IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN THE STATE OF PARAÍBA, BRAZIL: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract

Objective: To identify the evolution of prenatal performance indicators determined in the Prevent Brazil Program, between 2018 and 2021, in the state of Paraíba, and its relationship with indicators of inequality and municipal vulnerability. Methodology: A study was carried out with an inductive approach, descriptive procedure and indirect documentation technique. The universe was composed of 223 municipalities in the state of Paraíba and municipal data from the Health Information System for Care in the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and the first four months of 2021. Data on performance indicators established by the Prevent Brazil Program for prenatal care: "1- Proportion of pregnant women with at least six prenatal consultations", "2 - Proportion of pregnant women undergoing tests for syphilis and HIV" and "3 - Proportion of pregnant women who underwent dental care". The social indicators used were the Social Vulnerability Index and the Gini Index. Statistical analysis of data was descriptive and inferential. The municipal results were qualified according to what was established by the Ministry of Health. To correlate the Prevent Brazil indicators with the Gini and CVI Indicators, the Correlation test and Chi-square test were used. Results: Indicators 1, 2 and 3 evolved in the category “Excellent – ​​goal achieved” from 0.0% to 48.0%; 15.7% to 57.8% and 9.9% to 36.8%, respectively. Conclusion: The evolution of indicators in Paraíba was positive during the period studied. No geographic aspects related to the performance of the municipalities were identified, nor between the result of performance indicators and inequality/vulnerability.
