This article aims to draw parallels between the concepts of euthanasia and autonomy within the Brazilian legal system, as well as identifying which moral foundations guide the interpretation of the inviolability of life. To this end, the characterizations of the types of euthanasia and the different contexts in which they occur were addressed, as well as an analysis of the limitations imposed by the Brazilian legal system on the practice. The study also explores the interaction between the right to life and individual autonomy, highlighting how the legal system protects life as a supreme legal good, even in the face of rising bioethical dilemmas in today's society. In addition, the article presents Ronald Dworkin's perspective on autonomy and how his reflections can influence future legislative discussions and legal interpretations on the subject in the Brazilian context.
