Path of the Graduate Program in Education at Federal University of Ceará

In recent years, graduate studies have been an increasingly recurrent object in educational studies. Based on this premise, this essay aims to reflect on postgraduate studies in Brazil and, more specifically, to rescue part of the history of the postgraduate program in Education at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) through its training proposals throughout the time. For this purpose, specialized bibliography was used, as well as documents related to the creation of master's and doctoral courses in Education at UFC. The results obtained indicated that the program went through a long process of maturation before its creation and has been consistently training human resources at the master's and doctoral levels for over 45 years, although it still needs changes. Finally, we conclude that there are considerable challenges to the program and to the whole of the national postgraduate course, with an eye on the situation of recent years, which is quite harmful to the National Postgraduate System as a whole, but with hope in future actions to continue to contribute to the Education in Ceará and Brazil.
