Various aspects of the lives of young people completing basic education tend to influence their future perspectives, with emphasis on the school experiences accumulated so far, personal inspirations and motivations, as well as encouragement or emerging needs in their families. The objective of this work was to identify expectations of high school students, in light of their family contexts and motivations that guide their life trajectories. The investigated public participated in a workshop guided by the theoretical-methodological perspective of sensitive didactics (D’Ávila, 2021), organized into four pedagogical movements, which mobilized aspects linked to the transformative role played by the university in the lives of the organizers of such a workshop. After the intervention, the students responded to a semi-structured questionnaire, from which it was possible to demonstrate that the majority recognize the university as a possibility for personal growth, professional training, and social transformation. Young people indicated that they receive encouragement and encouragement mainly from family members to continue their studies, but they consider the possibility of combining study and work to be important. Among his impressions on the theme “school/university”, positive aspects prevail over negative ones, reinforcing his affection for the idea of structuring his life projects around the axes of education. Therefore, there was a majority recognition that university can represent a promising possibility for their future, despite the current social pressure for immediate insertion into the job market, which reflects the desire to combine study and work, even when there is an incentive to dedicate full time to a higher education course.
