The present research starts from an approach on the relationship between adoption, gender and family-oriented protection policies, especially mothers who give their children up for adoption, taking into account the gender inequality ennobled at the heart of the issue related to conceptions that guide and subsidize the work of the social workers who instrumentalize, operationalize and execute the public social protection policies along the process of delivery to adoption. It was a qualitative field research, through a questionnaire and interviews with professionals who have already experienced processes of this nature. The main results pointed to the system of domination-exploitation based on capitalism, patriarchy and racism as central elements whose implications are materialized not only in the decision-making process of mothers but also in the formulation and execution of protection policies, in addition to the conceptions of professionals.
