Selective Dissemination of Information: analysis of the literature published during 1958-2012

This paper covers the literature of selective dissemination of information (SDI) and its evolution and service published in the last fifty four years (1958-2012). It presents the results from searches in three internationals sources of information: Library Information Science Abstract (LISA), Annual Review of Information Science and Technology (ARIST) and Journal of Documentation, about selective dissemination of information and RSS technology in libraries. The results demonstrated that there is a significant number of articles published in several languages and journal articles about the themes, especially in 70’s and after a period of decrease of publications, the topic return to increase its productivity caused by the relationship between RSS e SDI.
