The purpose of this article is discuss the notion of information education from a terminological and conceptual point of view. To this end, the article discusses the understanding behind the term “information education” in the field of Information Studies from the perspective of Linguistics. This discussion considers the social perspective of information insofar as education can promote criticism. It concludes that information education is a process and a practice in which the social subject uses the contributions received from education to build meaning and carry out a critical assessment of reality by building information.
