IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT ARE OUTDATED IN THE GEOGRAPHY TEXTBOOKS - PNLDs 2014 AND 2015

Abstract

The textbook constituted as one of the main didactic and pedagogical resources, and it destined for teachers and students from around the country. Faced with this fact, some questions have surfaced: Does the current textbooks of Geography correspond to the current geographical information? Do the teachers have support with this tool that comes to classrooms across the country? What is the current focus of geographical knowledge in textbooks? Regarding the issue, these were some thoughts that drive the momentum of research. The research sought reasons to explain why the majority of textbooks of Geography of basic education approved in 2014 and 2015 PNLDs are outdated in some subjects, such as: the time zones in Brazil, the Hereditary captaincies of Brazil (XVI century); the Blue Amazon and the Flying Rivers. Sought through field research with academic course of Geography and Tourism of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS) and the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) analyze to what extent the contents that are outdated, it harms teachers and students.
