Abstract

This research aims to present a reinterpretation of Friedrich Nietzsche's (1844-1900) philosophical perspective regarding the understanding of joy as the elixir of life. Additionally, it seeks to argue in favor of this theoretical corollary to highlight a Nietzschean physiopsychological prism. For this purpose, Clément Rosset (1939-2018) and his work "Joy: The Greatest Force" (2000) will be our primary interpreters, as he is considered the main theorist to delve into the theme of joy in Nietzsche and one of the foremost in philosophy as a whole. Following the thread of Nietzschean thought, we choose to address this relationship more specifically through the lens developed by the author in his work "The Gay Science" (1882). Joy emerges as a deeply rooted theme in Nietzschean thought, appearing regularly and evolving gradually throughout the author's production. It fosters and aligns with other key elements of his thinking, such as the tragic, amor fati, and the will to power. This study aims to demonstrate how a Nietzschean reading through a certain lens gives rise to a joyful philosophy, highlighting aspects such as the body and life, which are central to the German thinker's philosophical construction. In this theoretical path proposed as an article, we aim to structure a physiology of joy that exists within the Nietzschean philosophy and has not yet been adequately explained.
