THE CHALLANGES OF EDUCATION IN GUINEA BISSAU

This text deals with education in Guinea-Bissau, and its purpose is to better understand the reality of the educational system in force in that country, through the educational model of each era, highlighting the three historical periods: colonial education, until 1974; and the experience of the struggle for national liberation and education in the post-independence period, starting in 1975. To this end, it uses qualitative research of theoretical-bibliographical and documentary character. The results indicated that, at present, the challenges of colonizer dependence have shifted to dependence on the interests ofglobalized capitalism, whose interests distance themselves from social longings and compromise and condition any progressive claim.
