Abstract

The present work addresses the study of Physical Education in the context of the development of hygienic practices in the state of Pará from 1891 to 1893. As an objective, we seek to analyze the content of articles about physical education in the Revista de Educação e Ensino (1891 - 1893) , with the intention of mapping how the discipline is approached and which foreign influences interfered in the methodological proposals stipulated for the education of bodies. The methodology used is based on documentary analysis and bibliographic survey in the terms suggested by Melo (2018) and França (2011). For this research, the sources were raised in the rare works section in the Digital Collection of the Arthur Vianna Library. The Revista de Educação e Ensino, founded in 1891, had the purpose of publishing topics related to education in Pará, the documents in the collection refers to the years 1891 to 1895; for the research articles were analyzed between the years 1891 to 1893, selected from the “Physical Education” column. In our analyzes, we infer that the column of the Pará magazine showed methods and techniques to be adopted in education; the exercises should be aimed at developing the student's body and intellect and had European influences on the theme.

Lucas Silva, UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PARÁ

Graduating from the Pedagogy course at the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). Extension Scholar (PROEX / UFPA) in the project "EDUCATION IN HISTORY WITHIN THE REACH OF ALL @ S: THE STORY OF EDUCATION IN PARÁ IN VIDEO FOR BASIC EDUCATION" and a member of the Laboratory for Research in Memory and History of Education (LAPEM) .

Rayssa de Sousa Gois, Universidade Federal do Pará

Medical student at the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). Worked as a volunteer in the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology of Natural Products - UFPA. She is currently a Surgical Skills Monitor at the Laboratory of Operative Technique and Experimental Scientific Initiation Surgery (TOCE / UFPA) and as an Internship Director at the Pará Academic Surgery League (LAPAC).

Alberto Damasceno, Universidade Federal do Pará

Full Professor at the Universidade Federal do Pará, professor of the Graduate Program in Curriculum and Management of the Basic School (PPEB) and of the Graduate Program in Education in the Amazon (PGEDA). PhD in Education from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1998). Master in Brazilian School Education from the Universidade Federal de Goiás (1991). Graduated in Architecture from the Universidade Federal do Pará (1983). Develops studies in the area of ​​History of Education, Educational Policy, Management and Educational Planning. He currently coordinates the Laboratory for Research in Memory and History of Education (LAPEM) and is deputy coordinator of the Study Group on Education in Pará in the First Republic (GEPRE). Member of the Brazilian Society for the History of Education (SBHE), the Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Educação (ANPED), the Associação Nacional de Política e Administração da Educação (ANPAE) and the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Pará (IHGP) , in addition to coordinating the Fórum Estadual de Educação do Pará. He was an advisor to the Municipal Education Secretariat of São Paulo in the management of Paulo Freire and was Secretary of State for Social Development of Pará.
