Abstract

This article explores the political experience of Olga Estela Angulo Alonso, based on her autobiographical narrative, which is intrinsically linked to the actions of her father, Manuel Angulo Farrán, one of the martyrs of the Cuban Revolution. The fact that she entered the clandestine struggle at a very young age, for his paternal position in the Movimiento 26 de Julio, and that she participated in historic moments of the clandestinity in Holguín, in eastern Cuba, were structuring factors for her constitution, in the past, as a combatiente. During the interview, the subjectivity of a young woman who carries within herself the duty towards her father's legacy emerges, at the same time that she had to deal with the traumatic memory of the torture inflicted on both by Fulgêncio Batista's dictatorial government tyranny. Thus, the pages that follow narrate and analyze the political and subjective paths constructed by a political subject who, in the present of her life, because of her health condition, her memory fades and prevents her from narrating what has always constituted herself, before being a combatiente, she was her father’s Olguita. Oral history and traumatic memory are intertwined with crucial episodes of the Cuban Revolution and are analyzed from the perspectives of gender and location, which help to draw a parallel between the stories of the father and daughter, both protagonists of the actions that consolidated the Revolution.
