The text refers to a review of the book “Curriculum in action - when it's up to the teachers to make it work”, authored by Professor Neide Aparecida Machado Scarpini, which offers important contributions on the applicability of the curriculum from a historical analysis, through the presentation of a field study in a school in a peripheral region of São Paulo. The text reveals the challenges faced by teachers and the school in building the curriculum, implementing externally-oriented projects and the collective effort to implement and complete school projects. The book contributes by instigating reflection on the different educational contexts in Brazil. Divided into six chapters - “O caminho das pedras: em busca das respostas às nossas dúvidas”, “A escola do parque e seus atores”, “Os projetos e os professores”, “A interferência da Secretaria da Educação”, “Os professores: entre os projetos indicados e os projetos executadas”, and “Quando cabe aos professores fazer dar certo”, the book reveals the complexity of day-to-day school life and the importance of having spaces for micro-policies in education.
