Abstract

In a historical context marked by explicitly belligerent manifestations of obscurantism, debates in Brazil on the curriculum transcend educational circles and become real battles fought in different social spaces such as the media and legislative houses. However, the heat of the clashes tends to create an environment in which the clash between arguments of emotional impact prevails at the expense of further analysis of the fundamentals and implications of the process of building school curricula. In this article, I propose to discuss some ideas that can be used as tools in the construction of curricula that do not give way to belligerent obscurantism and, at the same time, do not fragment into a large agenda of themes considered pressing by the most diverse segments of society.
