Ecofeminism, as a field of reflection, calls for situated readings that take into account the historical, cultural, and epistemological specificities of the contexts in which it is mobilized. In this sense, this article proposes the notion of Afro-Mozambican ecofeminism as an epistemological stance, based on the analysis of the poetics of Noémia de Sousa, Paulina Chiziane, Deusa d’África, and Sónia Sultuane. The aim is to understand how, in these texts, the relationships between the human, the more-than-human nature, ancestry, and spirituality are configured as modes of knowledge production rather than merely as thematic elements. The methodology is qualitative and interpretative, grounded in the critical reading of the poems “A mulher que ria à vida e à morte”, “Sorte e azar”, “Quando o Céu Abrir”, and “Sou os olhos do Universo”, in dialogue with contributions from ecofeminism, decolonial thought, and Southern epistemologies. The results indicate that, in Noémia de Sousa, an ontology of continuity is established; in Paulina Chiziane, the tensions produced by the coloniality of knowledge are foregrounded; in Deusa d’África, this rupture is radicalized on a cosmic scale; and, in Sónia Sultuane, an ontological inflection reconfigures the subject as cosmos. It is concluded that Afro-Mozambican ecofeminism constitutes an epistemology of implication, affirming ways of knowing, feeling, and existing grounded in continuity and relationality, rather than in separation between beings.
